Where did Unity08 Clean Money Pledge go?
A few months ago, the political corporation Unity08 tried to attract more members by encouraging voters to take what it called a Clean Money Pledge:
“I will only vote for a presidential candidate who has raised more than half of his/her funds through small contributions of $250 or less.”
Since then, Unity08 has had some serious questions raised about its ethics. The organization claims to be against the influence of lobbyists and powerful insiders, yet seems to be controlled by lobbyists and powerful insiders.
Additionally, it has been pointed out that Unity08 never itself met its own Clean Money Pledge. Most of its funding has come in the form of five thousand dollar donations from powerful financial elites. Also, Unity08 refused to sign the Safe Money Pledge - that none of its staff would grab big portions of donations in the form of financial compensation for their work.
Now, the promise of the Clean Money Pledge seems to be gone. Overnight, the Clean Money Pledge is gone from the Unity08 web site. Just gone. No one can find any links to the Clean Money Pledge on the Unity08.
